HRU – High-Efficiency Horizontal Standalone Heat Pumps

The Borealis HRU range consists of dehumidifiers for indoor swimming pools that use a combination of passive and active dehumidification systems to achieve maximum energy efficiency.

Description

High-efficiency dehumidifier/climate control unit for medium and large indoor swimming pools, suitable for outdoor or indoor installation. They consume between 35% and 60% less than traditional dehumidifying heat pumps due to their regenerative refrigeration circuit.

Structure made with anodised aluminium profiles with thermal bridge break and removable sandwich-type closure panels composed of two lacquered galvanised steel sheets with a PIR thermo-acoustic insulation core, 45 mm thick as standard. Interior of the panels lacquered. Stainless steel condensate tray.

Refrigeration unit equipped with scroll compressors in one or more refrigeration circuits. Coils made with copper tubing and aluminium-magnesium alloy fins resistant to corrosion. Standard support coil for boiler with two-way or three-way valve, integrated into the control.

Air-to-air heat exchanger made of aluminium with oven-cured epoxy coating, specifically designed for use in indoor swimming pools.

EC plug-fan fans with pressure and flow regulation integrated into the unit control as standard.

HRU units are equipped with a three-damper mixing section with return fan as standard. Both the return and supply fans are EC plug-fans.

Standard F8 filtration in supply and G4 in return and outdoor air intake.

Control panel with main switch and appropriate protections for each motor.

Proportional control system, freely programmable with graphic display for local or remote installation. Menus in Spanish. Standard IP and MODBUS connectivity. Integrated web server.

UNITS WITH PASSIVE AND ACTIVE DEHUMIDIFICATION

These are direct expansion air-to-air heat pumps with static and refrigeration energy recovery via their regenerative circuit. HRU units can perform their dehumidification function through three different and complementary systems: refrigeration dehumidification (active), thermal exchange in the heat exchangers, and air replacement with outdoor air. The cooperation of these three systems provides high drying capacity with minimal energy consumption.

REFRIGERATION DEHUMIDIFICATION, ALSO GUARANTEED

Although these machines can dehumidify using free drying with outdoor air, their refrigeration and recirculation drying capacity far exceeds that of other competing units, ensuring effective drying in any geographic location and climate condition.

HIGHER POWER AND PERFORMANCE HEAT PUMP

In addition, and equally important, is the fact that the layout of the elements within the HRU refrigeration circuit is designed to maximise the performance of the integrated heat pump, as the evaporator operates almost exclusively with latent heat. This means the net heating output provided by the machine is much higher than that of any conventional dehumidifier, allowing for significantly reduced heating costs.

FILTRATION

Our HRU units are ready to incorporate high-efficiency filtration in each of the air circuits as standard. They are equipped with R.I.T.E. filtration, which includes F8 filters in supply. Optionally, and without the need to add additional modules or change mechanical elements of the machine, higher-efficiency filtration can be installed.

COMPLETE AND COMMUNICABLE CONTROL

HRU units are equipped with iPro control as standard, programmed by Borealis for this specific application. The iPro is hardware manufactured by Emerson Group with proportional control and integrated IP and MODBUS communication. It incorporates a web server with a page where the machine’s operating parameters can be viewed and modified. It can be connected directly to the building’s router, with only the connection cable required, and monitored from any computer or mobile device (phone, tablet, etc.)

The software is custom-designed and implemented by Borealis, allowing us full control of the process and enabling quick, continuous improvements and updates.
