Throughout 2020, Borealis Thermal Energy designed and manufactured various Air Treatment Units (UTAs) for Metalquimia, a leading company in technology for the meat industry.
These new units were specifically tailored to the client’s needs and are destined for meat processing plants located in northern Europe.
What is an ATA?
ATAs (Air Treatment Units) are responsible for providing treated air and ventilation to climatized spaces, ensuring the quality of the environment. These units control the following parameters:
- Air renewal and purification: low levels of particulates and suspended dust
- Temperature control: heating or cooling as needed in both summer and winter
- Humidity control: appropriate relative humidity, humidifying in winter and dehumidifying in summer
- Airflow control: management of exterior and interior air intake
ATAs in Industrial HVAC
Some industries require precise control over humidity and temperature due to the nature of their products. This is crucial for ensuring product quality is not compromised. The primary industries requiring such systems include:
- Food industry
- Chemical industry
- Pharmaceutical industry
- Automobile industry
- General industrial, poultry, and livestock facilities
The Project: Custom ATAs
The project involved designing and manufacturing five new units for industrial production processes. Specifically, these ATAs will be installed in food production plants in different locations across Europe.
These units were custom-built to meet the specific requirements of various stations within the production line. Notable for their size, the largest unit exceeds 10 meters in length.
High-Temperature ATAs
The units manufactured are high-flow ATAs designed with special materials and components to withstand temperatures up to 90ºC due to the characteristics of the industrial processes in which they will be used.
