ACE heat pumps are autonomous units specially designed for thermal and, optionally, hygrometric conditioning of primary ventilation air. Equipped with a double energy recovery system (passive and active), inverter compressors, and EC fans, they are highly efficient systems.
- Electronic communicable control
- Scroll inverter
- EC fans
FULLY AUTONOMOUS HEAT PUMPS
The ACE units are autonomous systems, meaning they don’t require connection to chiller or boiler water pipes, or refrigerant lines. They come with their own control system and can be installed on rooftops or indoors.
Their complete independence and high level of efficiency make them suitable for working alongside any other primary HVAC system, from boiler heating with radiators to variable refrigerant flow systems.
UNIQUE HEAT PUMPS OF THEIR KIND WITH INVERTER TECHNOLOGY
When designing a project with primary air equipment, it is essential that the supply air temperature remains as constant as possible to avoid discomfort for users. If the primary air unit is not equipped with an inverter, the supply temperature can vary widely as the compressor switches on and off based on set temperature. For primary air units, these variations can be abrupt and often out of sync with the system’s operating cycle, meaning that when the compressor stops working in winter, the supply temperature drops and vice versa.
To prevent this effect, Borealis includes inverter technology in ACE compressors as standard, making it the only manufacturer offering this technology in this type of equipment. This technology allows precise control of compressor power, preventing fluctuations and keeping supply temperature constant while also reducing operating costs.
CONDENSATION HEAT RECOVERY
Optionally, ACE units can be equipped with condensation heat recovery from 10% to 100% of the machine’s cooling power. In summer mode, this recovered heat can be used to preheat domestic hot water (DHW) for free, reducing the size of the renewable energy production system (solar, etc.) for the building.
OPERATION IN EXTREME TEMPERATURES AND HIGH PERFORMANCE
Its regenerative cooling system, in which the air-to-air recovery combines with the refrigeration system, recovers a large amount of energy from exhaust air and is much less affected by extreme temperatures than other cooling systems. This also results in first-class efficiency ratings (SCOP, ESEER).
HEAT PUMPS WITH AUTONOMOUS CONTROL SYSTEM
The autonomous ACE primary air units are equipped with an iPro control system developed by Borealis specifically for this application. The iPro is a hardware solution from Emerson with proportional control and IP and MODBUS communication integrated. It includes a web server, allowing the machine’s operating parameters to be viewed and modified on a page accessible from any building’s router via only the connection cable. This enables monitoring from any computer or mobile device (phone, tablet, etc.).
FLEXIBLE AND COMPLETE EQUIPMENT
ACE units can be equipped with various filters, humidifiers, silencers, UV sterilization coils, recovery bypass for free cooling, and other accessories.
ACR VARIANT
Borealis offers a custom ACR model, similar to the ACE, but with rotary recuperators:
- Sensible heat: operates similarly to static types, primarily recovering sensible heat from exhaust air, with superior performance.
- Enthalpic type: exchanges sensible and latent heat, with some moisture transfer to the supply air stream.
- Sorption: offers higher thermal efficiency than the previous two, capable of transferring both sensible and latent heat, with standard conditions efficiency close to 90% in both cases.
