The manufacturing of custom refrigeration units has been one of Borealis’s strengths over the years, and air handling units are no exception. Together with our clients, we assess any special requirements for their air handlers tailored for non-climate applications (industry, food production, laboratories, etc.) to provide them with the best customized solution.
Main features of our AHUs (Air Handling Units):
1. Selection software and service
Borealis has introduced a comprehensive software tool for selecting air handling units, allowing our sales and technical collaborators to design air handlers for their installations quickly, precisely, and thoroughly.
2. Versatility in predesigned and modular configurations
Our range of air handlers includes numerous options for integration and design, covering both standard and optional components. Basic configurations can be supplemented with a wide variety of accessories, such as additional and high-efficiency filtration stages, different types of exchangers selectable by the client, adiabatic cooling modules, germicidal solutions, etc.
3. Flexibility in air handling unit manufacturing
Since its inception, Borealis has been known for adapting to customer needs. Where technically feasible, we can customize your order to match your specific requirements.
4. Custom-designed units for tight spaces or architectural integration
Sometimes modularity alone isn’t enough to adapt an air handler to the space or other constraints imposed by the project. In these cases, Borealis offers the design and manufacturing flexibility, along with the necessary customer service, to create an ad hoc design at a very reasonable additional cost.
5. High-quality components with Eurovent certification
The components in Borealis air handling units are sourced from top brands, with performance certified by the most recognized standards authority.
6. Integrated control system, factory-programmed with standard or custom software configurations
Optionally, our air handling units can be equipped with control systems based on DDC microprocessors that can communicate with the building’s BMS. We offer multiple standard control configurations, and Borealis can also provide custom programming to meet client needs at an affordable cost.
7. High-quality casing with insulation, tightness, and complete thermal bridge interruption
The casing of Borealis AHUs (Air Handling Units) meets the highest standards of insulation, tightness, and thermal bridge protection. Its sandwich panel construction is compact yet lightweight, with insulation material distributed isotropically throughout.
The attachment of fixed panels is screw-free, using clips that ensure superior tightness. This system also allows for easy removal when maintenance is needed.
The tightness of the access panels is ensured with high-quality, double-edge seals, and the panels are accessible via dual-action hinges that open from both sides or allow complete panel removal.
The manufacturing system for Borealis air handling units includes thermal bridge interruption for fixed and removable panels, as well as the aluminum structure itself. The entire structure is thermally isolated.
The finish on Borealis’s sandwich panels includes an exterior epoxy coating and an interior Granite HDX® coating, providing high corrosion resistance.
Borealis offers as standard the option to completely coat the interior of the casing, support frames, and aluminum profiles. Additionally, the panels can be manufactured in alternative materials, such as stainless steel or aluminum, with different types of insulation materials available.
